Solid coconut oil might not look like it could make an effective shampoo, but it lathers up beautifully when used in this fragrant shampoo recipe. Coconut oil and coconut milk nourish hair and promote hair growth while detangling and strengthening. What could be healthier for your crowning glory? The addition of ylang ylang essential oil, which is considered to be an aphrodisiac, adds a lingering, seductive floral scent that is perfect if you are planning a romantic evening. Ylang Ylang also promotes an elevated mood and relieves anxiety, so this shampoo is wonderful for everyday use.
3/4 liquid castile soap
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 cup canned coconut milk
15 drops ylang ylang essential oil
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the castile soap, coconut milk, and coconut oil until blended, about 1 minute.
- Whisk in the ylang ylang essential oil and pour the shampoo into a jar or bottle with a lid.
- Store the shampoo for up to 1 month, and shake before using.
TIP: If your bathroom gets very, you might want to store this shampoo in a warmer area of the house so the coconut oil doesn’t solidify between uses. If your shampoo does get too thick, put the bottle or jar in a bowl of warm water until the oil melts again.
